How can we deal with MS?

Picture
Since the cause of Multiple Sclerosis is unknown, it is difficult for scientist to find a cure for MS. Currently, scientists have come to an agreement that MS occurs as a result of a combination of genetics, environmental factors and even viral infections. There is sufficient evidence to accept the correlation of MS sufferers in relation to heredity and the location of their habitat, but scientists have yet to confirm whether microbes have any relation with the occurrence of MS.

Although there is no cure, there are several treatments and medications that are developed to speed up recovery time of demyelination (Cortistone [a steroid]), and reduce the frequency of attacks from MS (beta-interferon [a substance which is created during viral infections]).

There is not much that we can consciously do to prevent Multiple Sclerosis from happening but early detection is the key to coping well with Multiple Sclerosis. Early detection is so empowering and it allows you to take control of your future. It allows you to get the right medications and time to educate yourself about MS. Donating also helps to fund medical research and patients with MS.

"Life goes on, you learn to embrace it, it's not ideal, no-one would like to have it, but you lean to deal with it and live with it." - Melinda Zanello, MS Ambassador
